Stud

Garrowby Stud is set within attractive parkland on the western edge of the Yorkshire Wolds, enjoying a private and peaceful setting. Lord and Lady Halifax keep their breeding mares on the Stud and we also work with leading racehorse trainers to provide boarding facilities for mares, foals and young stock, as well as horses out of training.

Garrowby Stud

Garrowby Stud was founded in 1962 by Lord Halifax and his father. Some of our most famous successes include Shirley Heights, the winner of the 1978 English and Irish Derbies.

The 1986 Ribblesdale Stakes winner Gull Nook – a part sister to Shirley Heights - was also bred at Garrowby.

The victories of Mountain Lodge, Bedtime and Border Arrow plus the famous Wanton family bloodlines have added to our international reputation.
