Education centre
In 2013, working closely with local farmers, Natural England and East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Halifax Estates renovated the former Methodist Chapel and schoolroom into an outstanding educational facility and events venue surrounded by beautiful countryside, located 15 miles east of York and 7 miles north of Pocklington, close to Garrowby Hill.
Each year groups of primary school children are welcomed at Uncleby and take part in practical learning activities about farming and rural life. The visits are run by two local farmers who enjoy teaching the younger generation and giving them an opportunity to participate in activities.
Farm Discovery DaysCountryside Learning at Garrowby
Garrowby welcomes school groups for education days focused on activities linked with the countryside. The days are organised by Countryside Learning and take place every other year. The activities include meeting farm livestock, watching tree felling and finding out what can be made from crops grown by farmers.
