Shoot
The Garrowby Shoot is widely regarded as one of the best high pheasant shoots in the world, with guests returning year after year. The scale and topography of the Estate enables the shoot to be run extensively, while also operating as a commercial business.
The Shoot has been developed by the Halifax family over several generations. Thanks to the dramatic glacial terrain found along the western edge of the Yorkshire Wolds, it is renowned for its extremely high pheasants.
For the last 100 years, tree planting along the top of the escarpment has been carried out with shooting in mind. It has produced drives which are a challenge for even the best of shots.
The focus of Garrowby Shoot is on quality rather than the size of bag. The cartridge count is often in excess of ten to one.

Teamwork
The Shoot is run by Lord Irwin who plays an active role in its management. Every year our team of two game keepers do a sterling job in maintaining the high reputation of Garrowby Shoot. This has involved overcoming challenges such as Covid-19 and Avian Flu which have affected the whole shooting industry.
